Feeling that feeling…you know when something just isn’t right?!
What do you do?
Do you tend to ignore it? Stuff it down? Think something is wrong with you? Hang in there until the bitter end hoping you have a shift and can be part of the movement, party, organization, association, group?
Everybody else says it’s okay. So it must be you.
But as much as you want it to work…something just isn’t right.
That my darlings is intuition. I have grown to accept it readily, make a decision, and keep it moving.
I just moved back home to Portland from Georgia about 7 months ago. When I left Portland I had established a pretty good business community. That was 3 years ago and my business has changed quite a bit and so have I. I have a new direction and focus and we moved to a different part of the city. My needs and wants are just different.
So, here I am trying many different groups, organizations and associations in search of my people. My tribe.
I’ve tried starting my own as I have in the past – Nope. Not how I want to spend my time and energy. This process took a few months for me to accept that I was choosing to close down something that “I” started. Not an easy decision, but I exhaled for the first time in months when I shut it down.
I’ve tried a few others. Some required a couple visits before I could confidently make a decision and others I instantaneously knew were not for me. I cut the line quick and easy. Patting myself on the back for doing what was right for me.
It’s not that any of the groups were horrid or bad they just weren’t a fit for me and my business needs. If working with a client or another woman and felt they could benefit by the group, I would probably refer them.
The point of this post is to honor your gut feeling. If your gut, intuition, inner truth, higher self, is telling you “this is not for you”, honor it. Let it speak to you and trust it.
Know what you want and don’t settle for less.
