Reconnecting to Your Light While You Fight

a stream of thought during my morning walk

Now, more than ever, women need to connect with their inner light. We need to know ourselves and love ourselves more deeply than ever before. We need to get really clear on what we stand for — because if we don’t, we’ll be told what to believe and expected to obey without question.

For over a decade, I’ve helped women shift their focus from battling alcohol to re-engaging with life — to become the woman they know is still in there, waiting.

For years, I used words like sober and recovery, believing I was helping. But if I truly believed — and I did, and still do — that alcohol was never the problem, then it never should have been the focus.

My work isn’t about alcohol. It’s about light. It’s about reconnecting to the part of you that shines, that knows truth, that breathes purpose.

Yes, you’ll detach from behaviors that dull your brilliance, dim your light, or keep you stuck.
But more than that, you’ll remember who you are. And when your light shines, others see the way too.
Right now, more than ever, we need more women walking toward truth, love, and compassion — illuminating the path for each other.

Words matter.

They have been the single most powerful tool on my own journey back to light. The words I speak over myself, over others — the words I use to name my pain and my purpose — they either move me forward or hold me back. They either dim or illuminate.

This is not the time to numb out, dumb down, or drink ourselves into oblivion to avoid the chaos of the world. This is the time to stay present.
To act with intention. To lift our voices if that’s our gift, or to hold space and cheer for the women who are ready to lead.

We all have a role.

This is the time to be clear-minded and steadfast. To make conscious choices. Not to conform. Not to comply out of fear or fatigue.
Because if we surrender our light now — our voice, our power, our clarity — we risk losing more than just today. This isn’t just about us.
It’s about our daughters, our granddaughters, our nieces, our neighbors. It’s about every girl born into a world that tries to shame her just for being who she is.

If you’re reading this, I believe you’re meant to.

You were born for a time such as this.
To love fiercely.
To be bold in your own way.
To stand for what matters.

And even as we learn to be strong and resilient, we must not lose connection to our softness — where grace, hope, and faith live.

I’ve been in the darkness.
It’s ugly.
It’s cold.
It’s lonely.

That’s why your light matters so much. It helps others find you, your like-minded sisters — people who align with your values and remind you that you are not walking this path alone.

Practice radical self-care.
Seek joy.
Laugh deeply.
And yes, even allow empathy for those who oppose you.
Because staying connected to your light helps others stay connected to theirs. And that is how we overcome the darkness.

This isn’t the time to lay low and hope it all works itself out.

But hear this — you don’t have to be the one on the front line.

Not everyone is called to the same role, but we are all called to serve in some way. We are a system. And systems only thrive when we are united, when we’re each doing our part — connected by the light of love, the light of justice, the light of compassion.

The fight is to brighten our love-light.
Don’t let them dim your light.

Stay engaged.
Surround yourself with beauty.
Make time for joy.
Reconnect to your power, your presence, your purpose.

I don’t use my platform to promote political parties or campaigns. That’s not what I’m here for. And frankly, I feel the same about politics as I do about alcohol:

If you’re not rooted in your values and intentional with your motives, you can lose yourself. You can get so caught up in the fight, or the fury, that you forget who you are. Just like numbing out, obsession can disconnect you from your light.

If you’re not caring for yourself…
If you’re staying in a state of righteous anger…
If you’re burning out —
That’s your signal to refuel, to return to your light.

That’s what this space, this account, this site is for.

Come here when you need to remember who you are.
You are loved.
You are strong.
You are capable.
You are fierce.

And you are not alone.
We’re in this together.

Let’s keep shining.
Let’s keep showing up — for ourselves, and for each other.

Love you,

Teresa Rodden
